Employee Stories at nVent

Efrem P.

REGIONAL COUNSEL, NETHERLANDS

“Positive energy might cost nothing, but produces a lot.”

nVent promotes the positive. For Efrem P., sailing with his co-workers through the canals of Amsterdam was an unforgettable experience. He met many colleagues that day from offices across Europe.

“The company invests in interesting events and training for employees,” said Efrem P., who’s based in Amstelveen, working for the nVent Thermal segment. “This creates positive energy among people in the organization.”

Efrem P's background is international law. For the last two years, he applied his education and experience by negotiating contracts with customers.

“It can be a tough challenge,” he said. “But I like it. I can fully use my skills, language and empathy to obtain the best results.”

Angela S.

ASSEMBLY TEAM LEADER, USA

“It’s beautiful to see people from everywhere working together as a team.”

Angela S. calls nVent “a cool place to work.”

“We have people here from so many different countries, so many different backgrounds and cultures. Like me. I live and work in Minnesota, but I’m from Africa.”

She’s worked as a production leader for seven years in the company’s Enclosures segment. Before that, she served a brief stint as an assembly operator in the company’s Anoka, Minnesota, plant.

“I came in the door with no experience in electrical products, but there were plenty of people to guide and support me as I learned,” Angela S. said. “Today, the most rewarding part of my job is seeing new products being built from the ground up, from raw materials to advanced, finished products.”

Angela S. sees herself as a mentor for and champion of her team.

Joann G.

ASSEMBLY OPERATOR, USA

“If we have teamwork and respect, we can do anything and everything.”
Joann worked various jobs before she joined nVent at age 42. That was 20 years ago.

“Out of everywhere I’ve ever worked, this is the place that I feel really cares about me,” said Joann, who learned her machine-operating skills on the job. “People here are helpful, they’re thoughtful, they teach you a lot. Once you see what you can learn, you will stay.”

Joann manufactures parts for the nVent Electrical & Fastening Solutions segment.

“I love my job because we do a lot to build the world. Our parts go into buildings to help keep electrical fixtures and other things in place. Nothing’s going to hold up on super glue.”

Her two grown daughters – both serving in the military – are her major interest outside of work.

Robert K.

PRODUCT MANAGER, EMEA

“The backbone of this company is the quality products we deliver to customers.”

Robert likens his job to an industrious spider weaving a web.

“As a product manager, you’re at the center of a project, pulling it together,” Robert explained. “I have to listen to customers, to the sales teams, to the engineering teams. Then we have to create the right solution for the right application.”

Recently, Robert and his colleagues developed a new electrical heat-tracing device. The project was complex, the time frame was short and the demand for quality was high, as always. “It’s hugely rewarding when you find that solution and you’re able to put that into the market,” said Robert.

He gives great credit to his colleagues: “Everybody is really pushing to get the right results.”

Robert also appreciates the fact that working for nVent allows him to enjoy two personal passions: traveling and karate.
