THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE IDEAS
Hear from nVent employees around the world who are bringing our innovations to life.
Ursula N., Engineering Project Leader, USA
Ursula is an advocate of life-long learning. She is always taking a class or two outside of work in pursuit of greater knowledge and growth, both professionally and personally.
“My manager believes in me, and has invested in me,” says Ursula, a project leader on the team that develops new products for the nVent Thermal Management segment.
For example, under the company’s tuition reimbursement program, Ursula took a class at Harvard University a couple of years ago. The subject: How to make teams work.
“If anybody needs to know how to make a team work, it’s me,” she said. “That’s because my job is all about helping people accomplish more together than they could by themselves.”
Besides developing new thermal projects, Ursula and her colleagues sometimes update and improve existing products.
“Any kind of project can hit a speed bump or a pothole,” she explains. “Part of my function is to raise a red flag. We’ll knock out the problem as quickly as possible before it adversely affects our schedule. Because it’s super important to launch on time.”
Waldemar S., Product Marketing Manager, Germany
Waldemar calls nVent “a great place to start a career.” He should know.
In 2004, he joined us as an industrial mechanic apprentice. After leaving to serve in the military, he returned to become a machine operator. Looking to expand his expertise, he went to college to study business administration and engineering, all the while working in different departments at nVent.
After completing his course work in 2015, he joined the company full time as a production analyst. Since then, he has taken advantage of other opportunities at nVent’s Straubenhardt office in Germany. He joined the global SAP team. Today, he’s a product marketing manager..
“nVent gives you the opportunity to grow, to develop,” he says. “You also get very fast responsibility to prove yourself.”
He’s part of the team that has introduced a new ERP system for the company. The most rewarding part of the project? “We’re giving users new, more efficient processes and innovative tools that make their daily tasks easier and faster.”
Angela S., ASSEMBLY TEAM LEADER, USA
“It’s beautiful to see people from everywhere working together as a team.”
Angela S. calls nVent “a cool place to work.”
“We have people here from so many different countries, so many different backgrounds and cultures. Like me. I live and work in Minnesota, but I’m from Africa.”
She’s worked as a production leader for seven years in the company’s Enclosures segment. Before that, she served a brief stint as an assembly operator in the company’s Anoka, Minnesota, plant.
“I came in the door with no experience in electrical products, but there were plenty of people to guide and support me as I learned,” Angela S. said. “Today, the most rewarding part of my job is seeing new products being built from the ground up, from raw materials to advanced, finished products.”
Angela S. sees herself as a mentor for and champion of her team.
OUR RECRUITMENT PROCESS
At nVent, our focus is to provide you with an experience that is simple and offers an opportunity to learn more about where you can go as an employee.
We are looking for individuals who will strengthen our organization and our culture—people who can thrive at nVent as it is today, and help us grow into what we want it to be tomorrow. We seek people who exhibit our core leadership competencies and nVent values.
WE'RE DEDICATED TO OUR COMMUNITIES
We’re committed to investing in and connecting with the communities where we live and work.
The nVent Foundation is built on two key pillars: community and education. We empower you to give to recognized nonprofit and education organizations that align with your interests and passions. The nVent in Action matching program provides matching funds for employee charitable donations and supports nonprofits where groups of employees volunteer with additional grants. nVent also provides leadership grants to nonprofits where an employee serves on the Board of Directors. What’s important to you is important to us.
We are also passionate about advancing educational opportunities within nVent employees’ families. Each year, the nVent Scholarship Program awards post-secondary educational scholarships to children of nVent employees.
Connection is central to what we do, and what better way to connect than to give back?
