nVent's February Celebration – Black History Month

Throughout February, nVent celebrated Black History Month and our Conductors Employee Resource Group (ERG) Celebration Month with events in locations around the U.S. Many of the events throughout the month were hosted by Conductors. Conductors has a mission to support, uplift, engage and professionally advance Black/African Ancestry employees.

To honor Martin Luther King Day and kickstart Black History Month, Conductors hosted a cold-weather clothing drive at our SLP and Anoka locations. The donated clothing will assist students from the 21st Century Academy in Minneapolis. They collected approximately 25 coats, 5 pairs of snow pants, one new pair of boots, and many gloves, hats and socks.

In total, they donated 6 boxes of items. 21st Century Academy equips K–12 Northside scholars to become accelerated learners, game-changing global leaders and justice-oriented entrepreneurs. 21st Century Academy practices radical hope through healing racialized trauma, academic excellence, artistic expression and innovative activism.

In a three-part social media video series, leaders from Conductors shared how they celebrate their culture and heritage. The ERG leaders discussed the importance of dedicating time to celebrating and studying Black history and shared some of their reasons for leading.

At our Houston location, Conductors members hosted an event with Black History trivia and snacks, open to all employees. They shared knowledge on important Black inventors from both in and outside the Houston community.

At the end of February, Conductors hosted a Foster Love event for Black History Month Service Day. Volunteers decorated and stuffed duffle bags and wrote notes of encouragement for children in foster care through Foster Love. Based on the total volunteer hours and number of nVent volunteers that participated, Foster Love will receive a $2,000 volunteerism grant from the nVent Foundation. The kits were completed by volunteers in Anoka, SLP and Solon.

At nVent, we invest in intentional culture-shaping activities because we believe our culture is a differentiator and fosters an environment where our employees can bring bold ideas, be authentic, building a more sustainable and electrified world. Thank you to all our employees for participating in Black History Month and Conductors events.
