Protecting Europe’s First CSP Solar Power Plant
Andasol 1/2, Solar Millenium AG | Spain
Challenge
Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants operate with liquid salt, heated by sun during the day, and releasing that heat during the night or overcast periods for steam turbine operation. The liquid salt is stored in large tanks, and crystallization should be avoided at all times.
Solution
nVent designed, engineered, installed and commissioned a complete heat management system, including 10+ km of nVent RAYCHEM MI heaters, controls and power distribution panels. The MI heat tracing system is able to maintain the liquid salt above 230°C / 446°C.
