In this course participants will learn basic lightning protection theory, including IEEE 998 requirements and innovative solutions applicable to substations. Participants will understand how lightning protection systems enable utilities to mitigate under-appreciated failure risks, reduce initial and maintenance costs of conventional systems while shortening outages for major station equipment upgrades.
